Buy a Pair. Give a Pair (also advertised as Christmas in July at Mellins)

Valid from 1 July – 31 July 2026.

Who can give a free pair? 

A QUALIFYING PATIENT IS SOMEONE WHO HAS: 
• Purchased a pair of ZEISS/Synchrony lenses and
• Purchased a new frame.

NON-QUALIFYING PATIENTS:
• Someone who only received a visual examination or
• Someone who did not purchase a new frame or
• A person buying a reader or a pair of sunglasses off the shelf.

How will the qualifying person be informed?

We will distribute an email message to qualifying patients
once their order is placed.

Because you’ve had an eye examination and bought a pair of lenses and a frame from us in July, you can share the gift of sight with someone in need/someone you love, or donate it to one of our approved charities.

IMPORTANT! Please ensure that your e-mail address is correctly captured on our system. 

WHAT WILL THE PERSON WHO IS NOMINATED / GIVEN A FREE PAIR, GET?

• a FREE visual examination and, if required, a Free pair of ZEISS Synchrony single vision 1.5 uncoated or 1.56 HC clear stock/finished lenses and a qualifying Sightique frame. HMC is not included in this promotion. 

The person gifted the free pair may not use their own frame. 

No extra tints or other coatings are allowed on the free lenses. 

Bifocal and progressive lenses are excluded from the promotion.

The nominated person/recipient of the free pair has until 30 September 2026 to claim their free pair. 

Mellins Father’s Day / Family promotion with Free ZEISS binoculars

  • This promotion is valid at Mellins i·Style stores in Bloemfontein only.
  • The promotion applies to a family unit consisting of a mother, father, and one or more children under 18.
  • All eye tests are charged at R499 per person, including children. No eye tests are complimentary as part of this promotion. We accept all major medical aids. 
  • To qualify for the free ZEISS Terra ED Pocket Binoculars (valued at R7,000): The father and mother must both undergo a paid eye test (R499 each), and a full pair of ZEISS lenses must be purchased for either the father or the mother in the same visit.
  • The ZEISS Terra ED Pocket Binoculars are gifted to the father only. No alternative gift or cash equivalent is available.
  • To qualify for the free pair of Ray-Ban sunglasses: the mother must undergo a paid eye test (R499) and bring at least one child (under 18) for a paid eye test (R499) in the same visit.
  • The mother may choose any Ray-Ban sunglass frame from the available in-store range. No cash equivalent or substitute gift is available.
  • Both qualifying conditions (binoculars + Ray-Bans) may be redeemed in a single family visit, provided all conditions above are met.
  • Only 17 pairs of ZEISS Terra ED Pocket Binoculars are available across participating stores. This promotion closes automatically once binocular stock is exhausted, which may occur before 30 June 2026. Mellins will communicate stock availability in-store and via official channels once depleted.

O-SIX Lifetime Warranty

Eye Examination & Lens Requirement

A comprehensive eye examination must be completed with Mellins every 25 months.

Please note: Your warranty will lapse if you are outside your 25-month eye examination cycle – i..e you have not tested your eyes with us during the past 25 months.  

You will not be able to reinstate your warranty once the period has lapsed and/or if your eye examination has not been invoiced.

If new lenses are required (i.e., lenses are too damaged to re-fit or the prescription is outdated), new lenses must be purchased at a Mellins Branch; frames will not be supplied without lenses.

Same Frame Guarantee

The warranty applies to the exact O-Six frame originally purchased.

Replacement will be in the same model, colour and design.

No upgrades, style changes or colour variations apply.

Fair Use Policy

The warranty covers manufacturing defects and accidental damage (yes, even if your dog chews your frame or you sit on your spectacles, for example).

The warranty does not cover loss, theft, or unauthorised repairs or alterations.

Please note that a one replacement frame limit per 25-month eye examination cycle will be applied.

Warranty Assessment

All warranty claims are subject to evaluation.

Mellins reserves the right to determine whether the damage falls within the fair use policy. You are welcome to contact us at info@mellins.co.za to discuss this. 

Mellins Family Loyalty 

Loyalty activates & grows with each eye exam. 

Up to five family members can be included in a family loyalty account. 

Second pair discount on the Family Loyalty plan: 

The discount applies only to the Mellins lens*, with a hard or anti-reflective coating. 

The discount is subject to a frame purchase. 

 *single vision, multi-focal, bifocal, office, and sunlenses. 

Please note: Any high-refractive coating on any pair of Mellins lenses will be charged as normal. 

6 -9 months to pay

Interest-free payment plans / debit orders are credit-score dependent.

Please note: Discovery Health discount applies to cash payments or claims processed through your medical aid. Payment arrangements (e.g., debit orders) are not eligible for discounted pricing.
